Summary Class 12th The Third Level

Image
THE THIRD LEVEL – SUMMARY In The Third Level, Charley, a 31-year-old man, accidentally enters a mysterious third level at Grand Central Terminal through a corridor and staircase. It leads to the year 1894, where he sees gaslights, brass spittoons, old dresses, and a newspaper dated June 11, 1894. Grand Central seems endless and growing with many tunnels and passages. Charley wants two tickets to Galesburg, a peaceful town with big old houses, huge lawns, trees, and simple life, but his modern money is refused. Sam, his psychiatrist, first calls it imagination, later reaches there himself, and writes through a First Day Cover found in Charley’s stamp collection. The third level symbolizes escape from fear, war, stress, and insecurity of modern life.
